Alyssa Charlston named WAC Player of The Week

MOSCOW, ID - The Vandal Women's Basketball team is on a roll, and much of the credit goes to someone who works her tail off.

Earlier this week, Idaho Senior post player Alyssa Charlston was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Charlston opened last weekend with game highs of 23 points and 11 rebounds in the Vandals' 81-63 win over Mount St. Mary's.

In Saturday's contest at Loyola Chicago, Charlston scored 10 points and 11 rebounds, earning her second double-double in as many nights and the 21st of her career. She talks about her development and how her team has helped.

"I feel like I've been a huge work in progress throughout my career, and these awards are all a testimony to my team," said Charlston. "Seriously, getting so many assists and my teammates looking for me and we all making each other better in practice and that's why I've improved and am trying to get better individually. But as a team the goal at the end of the season is to win a WAC Championship and go back to the NCAA tournament."

The 2-1 Idaho Vandal women will finally play their first home game against UC Irvine this Saturday with a scheduled 2 p.m. tip-off.
