Cougs and a Warrior gets drafted to the MLB
LEWISTON, ID —
Wednesday marked the last day of the 2018 MLB Draft and 40 rounds later and more than 1,200 names called, one of those names was a Lewis-Clark State Warrior.
In the 22nd round, the Toronto Blue Jays drafted Gage Burland.
Burland came to LC as a Gonzaga transfer and played mostly reliever for the Warriors in 2018.
He was also named to the All-NAIA West team.
It was a proud day for the Washington State baseball program.
Although this past season was rough, that didn’t stop the Cougs from having four players be drafted:
- Parker McFadden (pitcher) 16th round – Baltimore
- Scotty Sunitsch (pitcher) – 18th round – Milwaukie
- Ryan Walker – (pitcher) – 31st round – San Francisco
- Justin Harrer – (pitcher) 35th round – Pittsburgh
