Cougs to visit BYU after earning automatic WNIT bid
PULLMAN, WA —
After a long hard fought, injury riddled season that saw three of Washington State’s four leading scorers suffer season ending injuries, the lady Cougs will continue their season in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
WSU will open first round play on the road in Provo against BYU on Thursday night. The Cougs who own the nation’s lowest winning percentage of any team to quality for tournament play got into the tournament through the Pac-12’s automatic bid. That bid is given to the highest finishing Pac12 team not to make the NCAA tournament.
The Cougars faced a brutal schedule this season, playing 11 teams that made the NCAA tournament. BYU finished its season at 20-11. Good for second in the WCC.
