Economy thrives during NAIA World Series

LEWISTON, ID - It's a busy time of year for local businesses as baseball teams and fans from around the country pour into the area for the Avista NAIA World Series.

The series starts this Friday with ten teams vying for the title. LC Valley Chamber President Kristin Kemak said hotels, restaurants and small businesses rely heavily on the influx of players and fans that come through the area during Memorial Day weekend every year.

"When you look at the events like the NAIA banquet or the different things that the hometown coaches do for the students, the caterers rely on them a lot too and so you're affecting things at different levels over and over again," said Kemak.

LCSC fought hard to keep the series in Lewiston this year by securing a contract to host through 2016.
