Idaho Vandals suffer first conference loss
MOSCOW, ID —
The Idaho Vandals football is heading into a rough part of its schedule.
This Saturday, the Vandals will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers in the Kibbie Dome.
This past weekend was homecoming for the Vandals and the result wasn't what Vandals faithful would have hoped for.
Idaho lost to the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns 21-16 on Saturday.
Coming into this game, Louisiana gave up a lot of points, with their only win coming from an FCS school.
But, Idaho’s defense showed up, getting seven sacks in the game.
But the offense, not so much.
Quarterback Matt Linehan had only 18 passing yards in the first half.
Despite the loss, Vandals kicker Cade Coffey's leg was extra strong.
The Rathdrum, Idaho native made all three of his field goals.
The performance was good enough for him to earn this week's Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week.
