Lewis-Clark State men’s basketball introduces new head coach
LEWISTON, ID —
On Tuesday, Lewis-Clark State announced the school hired Austin Johnson as the new head men’s basketball coach.
Johnson is replacing Brandon Rinta as the HC.
Johnson isn’t new to the LC Valley.
He was an assistant coach from 2010-16, afterwards he went to Salem, Oregon to be the head coach at Corban.
“LC is a very special place to me. I’ve worked here for six years and I moved here when I was 24. So, in a lot of ways, I feel like I grew up here as a coach,” Johnson said. “Leaving the players was a really hard thing because I invested in those guys lives and I plan to do the same exact thing here at LC State. It definitely feels like I’m coming home.”
This will make the second homecoming type hire LCSC Athletic Director Brooke Cushman has made in her first year, holding the position.
To replace head coach Jeremiah Robbins, Cushman hired Jake Taylor, a player on the 1992 World Series team.
