Ole Miss Rebels were prepared to battle visiting team UI

MOSCOW, ID - The Vandals football team took a trip to Mississippi to take on a team that everyone knew would be real tough going into it.

And that's the 4-3 Ole Miss Rebels who were prepared for battle and it showed in every quarter as they took on the visiting team, the 1-6 Idaho Vandals. Before we get to the score, let's check out some stats. Vandal's quarterback Taylor Davis, who was filling in for the injured starter, Chad Chalich, had a decent day, throwing for 166 yards and one touchdown.

Dezmon Epps once again lead all Vandal receivers with five grabs for 89 yards and one touchdown. But it was a combination of two Rebel quarterbacks and two running backs who did the most damage to the Vandals as quarterback's Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti combined for 280 yards and four touchdowns, while running backs I'tavius Mathers and Jaylen Walton combined for 224 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. This one wasn't close, Ole Miss takes down Idaho 59-14.

Coach Petrino discusses quarterback Taylor Davis' performance and the positives from the game.

"He took care of the ball for the most part pretty well, and just gotta go out there and prove this week," said Petrino. I thought the O-line protected him better. He probably got hit a lot less than we have in any game this year, so that was a positive. And Dezmon Epps played really well so it was good to see him go out and play well. And it was nice to see Kris Olugbode go out there and have a couple nice, strong runs. And so those were some of the positives and everyone has gotta just go out and keep proving and playing around Taylor and that will help him play better."

The Vandals will be back at home this Saturday for Dad's day as they take on the 5-3 Texas State Bobcats with a 2 p.m. scheduled kickoff.
