Quarterback Taylor Davis fills in for Vandals

MOSCOW, ID - Losing any starting player on your team has the potential to hurt big time, but when it's your quarterback, it could hurt that much more.

When University of Idaho starting quarterback Chad Chalich went down with an apparent shoulder injury in Saturday's 48-24 loss to Arkansas State, it was the third string quarterback senior,Taylor Davis who entered the game.

Second team quarterback Josh McCain was also out with a shoulder injury. Getting his first playing time of the season, Davis completed 14 of 39 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Granted you never want to see any player go down with an injury, but coach Petrino liked what he saw in his backup.

"Well he did some good things...battled hard and did some good things," said Petrino. "You know, I was kinda hard on him cause he hasn't had as many reps lately but I thought he competed hard and did some good things for us."

The team will have a chance to heal up and get some rest as they go into a bye week this week and will then have a tough match-up at Ole Miss on October 26th.
