Three WSU baseball athletes head to the big leagues

PULLMAN, WA - Lavalli wasn't the only one to be drafted this weekend as three Cougs could be headed to the big show as well.

Washington State Picther J.D. Leckenby was selected by the New York Mets in the 14th round. Leckenby had a team-leading six saves in 25 appearances this year coming out of the bullpen.

Third baseman Adam Nelubowich was selected by the Houston Astros in the 18th round. He nearly made the coveted 300 batting average but will settle with 299 and a team-leading 14 doubles last spring.

Last but not least was shortstop Trace Tam Sing, who was drafted in the 26th round by the Kansas City Royals. Sing batted 280 with 14 extra-base hits and was a speedster on the basebaths with four stolen bases.
