U of I looking forward to joining the Sun Belt Conference

MOSCOW, ID - College football fans are chomping at the bit as the season moves closer and closer each day, and the coaches are no different.

The University of Idaho's new high tech scoreboard was presented Tuesday, the same day that Head Football Coach, Paul Petrino, had his first press conference since spring ball.

The Kibbie Dome isn't quite ready for the season, but Coach Petrino and his staff are, as he discussed topics such as the team's health, new recruits, and practices.

Joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2014 was another major topic, as was his decision to attend its Media Day this year, despite the team's independent status for 2013.

"See the land where you're going to enter here real soon," said Petrino. "I think that's one of our biggest long-term goals is to continue to improve every day throughout this season, get better every day, then when we step into that league next year, we believe we're gonna' battle to be champions."

Though they'll still have a chance to make a bowl game as an independent this year, Coach Petrino believes that being in a major conference will certainly boost their chances when they become part of the Sun Belt in 2014.
