U of I football team is back on the field and looking better than ever

MOSCOW, ID - The Idaho football program might think about changing their slogan to "what a difference a year makes."

The Idaho Vandal Football team was on the field this last Saturday for their first practice of the spring! Head coach Paul Petrino was extremely happy with how comfortable the team seemed after a year in his system...and he noted a definite, positive change in attitude with the team on the field.

While obviously no position has been solidified, the one most will be watching will be at quarterback, as sophomore Chad Chalich and red-shirt freshman Matt Linehan battle to be the man under center at the start of the season.

Petrino reflects on the QB's first day.

"You know, I thought they did some really good things," said Petrino. "I think, probably day one Chad had a little bit of a better day but you're never really for sure till you go in and watch the tape. But we're just light years ahead of last year, they both are."

The Vandals practiced Monday as a makeup session for missing last Friday's rained out session, and will get back to their normal practice schedule this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
