Utah Valley Wolverines pull away with a win against Vandal men

MOSCOW, ID - The Idaho men are back at home for five of their next six games and looked to get a win against a conference foe on Thursday night.

The 8-7 Utah Valley Wolverines came to Moscow to battle the 7-11 Vandal men. Leading scorer Stephen Madison and the whole Vandal team came pumped. Speaking of Stephen Madison, here he'd take the pass from Connor Hill, go up, get fouled, and that's an and-one.

How about some Utah Valley defense? Mike Scott on the drive...ouch, swatted down by Zach Nelson...Wolverines take over.

Little later, a rare miss from Madison, and from out of nowhere Connor Hill finds the ball and hits the pull up jumper...

All game though, the Wolverines had range...Mitch Bruneel hits from behind the three-point line. And that was just one of many as the Wolverines would start to pull away and win it 71-66.

The Vandals drop to 7-12 and will host Bakersfield this Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

As for the women, they took on the same Thursday night, but that one was played in Utah, however we do have results for you. The Vandal women were 11-7 coming into this conference matchup against a 3-12 Utah valley team. The Vandals shot very well from behind the three-point line, tying it's season high with 13, and getting a lot of help from sophomore Christina Salvatore who hit four herself. They opened the first half with a 22-7 run and would finish that half up 45-25...and they would never look back.

The Vandal women easily dominate the Wolverines, 96-55 and move to 5-0 in conference play for the first time since the 1981-82 season. Idaho will next travel to CSI Bakersfield on Saturday.
