Warrior women win, headed back to NAIA quarters
BILLINGS, MT —
On Thursday afternoon the LC State Warriors women opened up their NAIA national title chase with a strong win over eighth-seeded William Penn. Tonight the Warriors had a quick turnaround as they prepared for the fifth-seeded Bethel University Wildcats as they looked to return to the national quarterfinals for the second straight year.
The Warriors shot just 38-percent on Thursday. They didn’t shoot particularly well tonight either just 40-percent but Caelyn Orlandi played like a star as she dishes to Brittany Tackett. Then Orlandi doing it on ‘D’ with the theft and the lay-in off the right side, Warriors up 11 at half.
Late third quarter, Meghan Risinger had a huge game tonight, here she beats the buzzer for the three, she had eight points and 18 rebounds but Bethel would not go away quietly. Alexis Hardaway powers her way to the rack and banks it home. LC State lead down to five, but Orlandi right back at ya, she had 29 and the Warriors are off the national quarterfinals!
