Warriors demolish Saint Katherine's on way to sweep
LEWISTON, ID —
Just a week and a half ago the LCSC Warriors were treading water at 19-12 already having lost more games two-thirds of the way through the year than they had in an entire season since 2013. But since that time, the whole narrative has changed.
LC State finished off a weekend sweep of Saint Katherine College on Sunday, creaming the Firebirds 25-2. LC State outscored Saint Kat’s 51-6 over the four-gamer.
The Warriors, now winners of eight in a row, used a patient approach at the plate drawing a total of 16 walks on Sunday alone. Logan Griffin and J.J. Robinson each collected five RBI in the Sunday morning turned afternoon affair.
Robinson’s efforts led him to being named this week’s NAIA West Player of the Week. All in all, it appears as if the Warriors are headed back in the right direction.
"You know it's the story of a season,” said Jeremiah Robbins, LCSC Head Coach. “I don't think this team ever had any panic in it early. I like where we're at, I like how we competed on the mound, I like how we competed at times in the batter’s box throughout the weekend. It's coming together at the right time."
"These days are long, but you just have to stay with your approach and look for a pitch to swing at,” said Logan Griffin, LC outfielder. “A lot of mental focus really. Just getting after it at practice and really buying into the process we have here at LC-State."
The Warriors will look to run their win streak to nine when they open up a four game home series with the College of Idaho Friday night.
