However, the Washington state running game is another factor that many may overlook in this pass-heavy offense. Last year, the Cougs ranked among the top schools in passing yards per game, but one of the lowest in rushing yards. This year, players like sophomore Teondray Caldwell and junior Marcus Mason have showed that they can add a new dimension to the offense. Coach Leach has seen a lot of improvement since last year.
"Really everything...I would say blocking which we block pretty well," said Leach. "Then I'd say not trying to make too much happen. Sometimes you'll have a guy run into a hole and then dance and they've been more decisive this year so that's been good. And then they catch the ball out of the backfield better than they did and they've made big plays getting out to the flat."
The Cougs will be taking on the Auburn Tigers Saturday in Alabama with kickoff set for 4 p.m. pacific time. Best of luck, Cougs!
