WSU vs U of I, heated rivalry or friendly game?

PULLMAN, WA - College football fans, the time you have all been waiting for is finally here, oh yes, it's time to witness the battle for the Palouse.

The big battle features the 0-3 University of Idaho Vandals football team who will be the visitor this year as they make the eight mile trip from Moscow to Pullman to take on the 2-1 Washington State University Cougars.

As much as non-locals would think this would be an annual rivalry matchup, the two teams haven't met since 2007 when the Cougars beat the Vandals 45 to 28.

The two teams played annually from 1998 until 2007 with the Cougars taking eight of those ten games from the Vandals, including the last seven in a row.

This matchup will feature two coaches in WSU's Mike Leach and U of I's Paul Petrino who have never faced each other as head coaches. Though both of them haven't said much about making this a continuing rivalry, I guess we will all have to see how the game plays out to see if it does turn into a heated rivalry!
