Lapwai wins White Pine title: High School Basketball Round-up: 2/20/18


PRAIRIE VS. LAPWAI – The Lapwai Wildcats beat the Prairie Pirates, winning the 2018 White Pine Diviison-1 title.

Lapwai started out on a 8-0 run and lead for the entire game.

Prairie was able to make it closer, cutting the lead 17-10 with about 2:30 left.

But in the third quarter, Lapwai exploded and a large part was because of a scoring binge from Kendall Leighton.

Lapwai will be the one-seed in the state tournament.

KAMIAH VS. POTLATCH – In the loser goes home game, the Potlatch Loggers beat the Kamiah Kubs, 67-54, advancing in the loser’s bracket of the White Pine D1 tournament.

Potlatch jumped out to an early 10-4 lead and they just kept piling on the points.

The Loggers will have a rematch against the Prairie Pirates.

Prairie edged them late, advancing to the tournament championship game.

Winner will play Wallace for the state play-in.

LAKE CITY VS. LEWISTON – The Lewiston Bengals started off hot, but then cooled down in the end. The Bengals lost to Lake City in the 5A Inland Empire League district game, losing 70-37.

The Bengals started with a 6-2 lead, then the T’wolves scored 12 straight and didn’t look back.
