With some early struggles in the Seattle bullpen, the Mariners may soon get a boost to that department. Veteran relief man Steve Cishek is expected to begin his rehab assignment as soon as this weekend.

Cishek, who continues to recover from offseason hip surgery, posted a 2.81 era in 62 appearances for the Mariners last season. Cishek would likely fill a void as the team’s setup man ahead of closer Edwin Diaz upon his return.
