Mariners agree to 2-year pact with lefty specialist Rzepczysnki

The Mariners have made their mark on the Major League Baseball season dealing for shortstop Jean Segura and adding Danny Valencia to strengthen an already potent offense but now Seattle has turned their attention to strengthening their pitching staff.

The Mariners have signed relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski to a two-year contract. The 31-year-old posted a 2.64 earned run average with 46 strikeouts in 70 appearances for the athletics and nationals in 2016.

Rzepczynski who joins his seventh team of his career will serve as a lefty-specialist out of the Seattle pen. Rzepczynski who is nicknamed ‘scrabble’ for his complex last name did not have the terms of his deal released but it’s expected to be in the $2.5 million dollar per year range.
