Motter homers in Mariners 9-6 loss at Oakland

Coming into tonight’s action some of the Seattle Mariners most reliable pieces like Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager all boasted batting averages below .250. And although we aren’t even three weeks into the season the Mariners opened an important four game series with Oakland with the hope they could get some help from their big money guys.

We jump ahead in the action, sixth inning Mariners down by a couple tallies when Taylor Motter picking up some of his struggling teammates to start the season. This long ball goes to the deepest part of the ball park and Motter’s fourth had Seattle and Oakland level at five. Now after a Rajai Davis RBI groundout in the sixth to give Oakland the lead.

Trevor Plouffe is gonna make sure he puts this contest out of reach in the seventh, off Dan Altavilla, the three run poke was Plouffe’s third and Oakland takes game one of the series, final from the Bay, 9-6.
