The season is just nine games old, but the Mariners have lost their most reliable hitter and starting shortstop due to injury. Seattle has placed Jean Segura on the ten-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. The injury isn’t considered major and Segura should be able to return at the end of the ten-day DL stint baring any setbacks.

Segura is the only Mariner starter batting over .260 through the first week-and-a-half of the season. Segura will be replaced in the lineup by Taylor Motter. Seattle recalled infielder Mike Freeman from Triple-A to take Segura’s spot on the active roster.
