Tigers explode for 19 runs, embarrass Seattle
DETROIT, MI —
Seattle Mariners on the road Tuesday in Detroit to take on the Tigers who were opening up a 10-game home stand and by all accounts things got off to a pretty good start. First, with the M’s leading, Taylor Motter ripped the RBI single into left and it was 2-nil. Tigers came right back in the second, when James McCann took Felix Hernandez out to right field and McCann’s 5th made it 3-2.
Fourth inning Hernandez was already out of the game and this one started to unravel. Chris Heston pitched and Justin Upton just absolutely destroyed the Heston offering. The home run made it 6-2 but the Mariners cranked out 16 hits so you knew this thing wasn’t over. Danny Valencia homered on a fly ball to left center field. Seven home runs were hit combined between these two clubs but Seattle’s pitching never gave them a chance. Nick Castelanos with a 2-run single right up the middle. Tigers pound out 24 hits and 19 runs and whooped up on Seattle 19-9.
