44-point explosion earns Costello P1FCU Prep Athlete honors
MOSCOW, ID —
This week’s P1FCU “Prep Athlete of the Week” has become accustom to dropping 30 points almost on a nightly basis. The junior from Logos High School in Moscow already owns a school record for his 44-point explosion earlier this season and for his efforts, we honor him as this week’s “Prep Athlete of the Week.” Let’s meet Brennon Costello.
After the loss of the Knights most dynamic playmaker Alec Engerbretson from a season ago, if the Knights were gonna be competitive on a nightly basis, Brennon knew someone would have to step up to fill that role.
"I've tried to take that role and as we've gone halfway through the season, towards the end of the season my teammates have really helped me out where I don't have to do everything by myself,” said Costello. “ Nick, Bennett, all those kind of guys are scoring so it makes it easier for me."
Brennon who likes to study and use the traits of some of the NBA’s best like Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook hasn’t always had it easy growing up.
"We've moved around a lot, my dad's in the military so we've lived in seven or eight places,” said Costello.
The junior who was born in Denver and most recently moved from Austin, Texas to the Palouse about three years ago says his journey has helped shape the man he’s become.
"Ahh it's just, kind of like life,” said Costello. “At first I was worried about making friends and then just being myself it helps. Just the different places we lived it helped develop me into who I am."
The dude who loves to dance says he’s adapted well to the area and hopes to stay here before furthering his education after his senior year.
"I enjoy like the different weather,” said Costello. “Like in Texas we didn't have any snow, here we have snow. I just I like the small town feel, you know everyone and it's just a lot more like, family feel."
We hope you enjoyed meeting Brennon this evening. Each week throughout the school year KLEW Sports and P1FCU team up to highlight a deserving athlete in the area. If you have someone you’d like to nominate just go to klewtv.com, click on sports and then prep athlete. Every Wednesday those athletes are showcased right here on KLEW-TV for their outstanding accomplishments.
