Every Wednesday, we feature an outstanding high school athlete who shines on the field and in the classroom. This week’s P1FCU “Prep Athlete of the Week” is Brandon “Big Diesel” Ellibee of Clarkston High School.

Senior Brandon Ellibee is Clarkston High School’s standout pitcher, ranked 51st in the state of Washington. But he didn’t get to that rank alone. His love of baseball has spanned over ten years. He says that his love of the game comes from one person in particular.

Ellibee said, “My dad got me started. I didn't go through T-ball I just went straight to pitching. He got me started on all of this, he coached me.”

His Dad was always there, and no matter the sport, he supported him and coached him through every win or loss.

“We’ll go out on the weekends, we’ll go to the field and hit up at the cages up on pryor…that was like our home,” said Ellibee.

As for his senior season...

Ellibee said, “Wish we could have done a little bit better.... but not everythings perfect.”

And it’s that positive attitude and his skills on the field that got him to what he says is his next step of becoming a Warrior.

“I have a workout this weekend with L-C, me and two other seniors,” said Ellibee.

Ellibee said he hopes to don that blue, white and crimson, but off the field he says he wants to become a diesel tech, and eventually head to Boise for lineman school. But as far as his future in baseball, I’ll let Big Diesel tell you himself.

Ellibee said, “I really want it and I don’t want to stop.”

And you might be asking yourselves what’s the story behind his nickname “Big Diesel”?

Ellibee said, “Okay so I drove my dad’s pickup to school for like a week and that little kid over there gave me that name. It’s not even mine it’s my dad’s and that’s what my coach calls me too.”

There you have it. Congratulations “Big Diesel” you’re this week’s P1FCU “Prep Athlete of the Week.”

We hope you enjoyed meeting Brandon. Each week throughout the school year KLEW Sports and P1FCU team up to highlight a deserving athlete in the area.
