Let's meet this week's P1FCU "Prep Athlete of the Week," Clarkston High Senior DePaul Blunt.
Though he's also a basketball star, DePaul Blunt's passion is on the diamond.
"Yeah, baseball's my favorite sport," said Blunt. " I've been playing it since I was a little kid."
And pretty soon, he'll be playing for the LCSC Warriors!
"I'm really excited about playing with the warriors," said Blunt. "My dad played there. He was a pitcher there awhile ago way back in the day and then my mom also played basketball there also so the Warriors have kinda been in my blood."
Playing on Harris Field has been a dream of his.
"Since I've grown up here it's pretty cool playing for your, basically your hometown college," said Blunt.
But before he moves on, he's still gotta go to school. How about a favorite subject?
"Government would probably have to be my favorite subject, " said Blunt. "Yeah, I like the teach, Mr. Cowdry. He's a pretty cool guy."
His free time still keeps him busy.
"I do 4-H, so this weekend I'll be at the Asotin County Fair showing my pig, I'm taking a pig," said Blunt. "My little brother's showing a steer so we've got quite the little farm going on at our house right now."
And his future major?
"Kinesiology...I'd like to be a sports administrator someday," said Blunt.
There's been a season-long dispute on who is faster between DePaul and fellow Bantam Ryan Adams. Ryan says it's DePaul.
"I would have to say he's a little bit quicker, Ryan's a little bit quicker but not by much, not by much," said Blunt.
And how about his heroes?
"Definitely probably my dad," said Blunt. "And I'd probably have to say, a big baseball inspiration would probably have to be Jackie Robinson."
A big congrats to DePaul Blunt, this week's P1FCU "Prep Athlete of the Week" a student-athlete Clarkston will surely miss!
"Means a lot, I appreciate it...being selected and all that kind of stuff," said Blunt. "And it means a lot to know that people want me to be the Prep Athlete of the Week, so thank thank you."
