Dedicated gymnast Abby Webb has been to Idaho State Championships a number of times

ASOTIN, WA - Every so often, we find a student who is the epitome of what we look for in our P1FCU "Prep Athletes' of the Week." We talk with a girl who is a perennial state champ, track star, and valedictorian. Let's meet Asotin High Senior, Abby Webb.

Asotin High Senior Abby Webb may be on the track here, but her specialty is in the gym.

"I've been a gymnast since I was seven years old," said Webb. "But I've been commuting up to Moscow for eight years now."

She's a member of Palouse Empire Gymnastics in Moscow, where she has been excelling for years.

"I've been state champions a number of times, about seven or eight times," said Webb. "I've been to level seven nationals twice, and actually scored a perfect ten in level eight."

So how did track come into play?

"Well I actually started doing track freshman year because I had broken my arm in gymnastics," said Webb. "So I couldn't do anything there so I figured why not run, and I ended up really enjoying it."

Sounds like a busy girl.

"I go to track from after school till four, and then I train at gymnastics from five to eight," said Webb. "And then days that I don't have track, it's four to eight."

So she must not have much time for school.

"I'm a 4.0 student and I just got valedictorian," said Webb.

The colleges must be lining up to get her!

"I'm actually going to attend Boise State and compete on the gymnastics team there," said Webb.

And the plan as a Bronco?

"Yeah, I'm actually going to go into pre-med," said Webb. "I wanna be a pediatrician one day."

As for heroes who have helped her along the way?

"Definitely my parents cause they've always been there and supported me and given me nothing but encouragement," said Webb.

Even though she's almost speechless with the honor, we say congrats to this week's P1FCU "Prep Athlete of the Week," Asotin High Senior, Abby Webb.

"That's really an honor, so...thank you," said Webb.
