Dedication & love of the game makes Karlee a star on the basketball court

LEWISTON, ID - If you've caught any Lewiston girls basketball games, you've seen senior Karlee Wilson tearing up the court.

Her talents have already earned her a spot on the Vandal Roster in 2013 making her the perfect candidate for this week's P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week.

Standing at 5'4", one wouldn't expect Lewiston's Karlee Wilson to be a star basketball player, but this guard is going division l.

"It was always a dream to play somewhere and it just happened to work out," said Karlee. "I worked really hard for it so I'm really lucky."

Although her parents are athletic, neither one was big into basketball, so it was Karlee's love for the game that got her motivated to get out and practice.

"I really wanted to be really good," said Karlee. "So I would be outside shooting hoops, playing around with my sister and everything just to be that much better."

Dedication that obviously paid off, not only based on her scholarship to Idaho but the success the Bengals have had during her years on the team.

"My freshman year we got second at state and my sophomore and junior year we won the state championship," said Karlee.

But it's not just the game itself that keeps Karlee coming back for more, it's the places she gets to travel and the relationships she's developed on the court.

"My favorite thing would have to just be the people that I play with and my coaches," said Karlee. "I've had great high school coaches and traveling coaches and all the girls and the places I get to see."

Just seven months away from starting her new chapter at Idaho, Karlee is focused on finishing strong this season but looking forward to what the future holds.

"I'm really excited to just get in there and start playing and be all busy and just get into the college atmosphere," said Karlee.

Her dedication, hard work, and ambition make Lewiston's Karlee Wilson this week's P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week.
