You can tell off the bat how nice of a person Jesse Styner is right off the bat as he explains what he likes about his hometown of Asotin.
"I really like having a small school because you're really connected with all your friends and you can be friends with everybody in the school so you're just a lot closer to everybody," said Styner.
A friend to everyone...Jesse plays basketball, track, and runs cross country for Asotin high, where his favorite depends on the time of year.
"I don't have an actual favorite, pretty much whatever one I'm playing at the time," said Styner.
When not dominating on the court, he's dominating in the classroom.
"Pretty good, right now I'm getting a 3.85, 83 GPA and I'm on honor society," said Styner.
And has some uncommon favorite classes.
"I really like government and anatomy and physiology," said Styner.
But he has good reason for enjoying the latter.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about getting into physical therapy or occupational therapy so going into anatomy and physical therapy is just getting a head start on college," said Styner.
And speaking of college, he has an idea for potential destinations.
"Right now I'm thinking Eastern Washington or University of Idaho," said Styner. "My dream job would probably be a physical therapist just because I think helping people on a day to day basis and doing hands on stuff would be really fun."
"Video games, if we go to my house we play pool, and sometimes we shoot around, and eventually we get sucked into laser tag, that's pretty fun too," said Styner.
Laser tag, where would one do that around here?
"Golf course... that's something they offer there," said Styner. "Not really we just kinda make up our own game as we go."
And finally something random about yourself.
"My favorite animal is a panda," said Styner.
"I don't know, they're just big and fluffy and awesome," said Styner.
Fair enough, we salute you, Asotin High senior Jesse Styner, this week's P1FCU "Prep Athlete of the Week!
"To me it's just an honor for people to notice me and look up to me," said Styner. "So, I don't know, I just think it's really cool to get that opportunity."
