LCSC commit Bradley named P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week

Through three games this season, this week’s P1FCU “Prep Athlete of the Week” has posted a pair of double-double’s averaging 19 and 12 for the Lewiston Bengals. They skyscraping center checks all the boxes on the requirement list to earn Prep Athlete honors, so we honor him this week, it’s Lewiston High’s Trystan Bradley.

Trystan Bradley was born and raised in the LC Valley. And after this season the six-foot-seven post player will be off to college but he won’t be straying far from the valley after committing to LC-State.

"I think the big thing there was the coach,” said Bradley. “I know he's going to be a good guy, fun guy to be around and a fun guy to play for. And I just think they play and have fun. I mean they run an offense but they do a lot of different things out of it. I think he gives them a lot of lee-way to just play basketball."

Although the 4.0 student in the classroom may not look like he’d enjoy having a gun or fishing rod in his hand, Bradley is actually a huge outdoor enthusiast.

"Well in the summer go swimming, boating, camping, hunting, fishing...all that kind of stuff,” said Bradley. “I grew up doing it with my dad, grandpa and uncle."

Bradley’s true passion however remains on the shiny hardwood of Booth Hall, and as to why his game has transformed over the last few years, he may have shared with us his secret as to why.

"Usually I have a peanut butter and honey sandwich with a Gatorade or something like that to tie me over and then after the game it's on,” said Bradley.

Dunking in a basketball game can be seen as an art, but at the high school level it’s rare. So we figured we’d ask Trystan just how crazy it is to be able to sky for two.

"It's exciting for sure, especially if it's a home game because the crowd will go crazy,” said Bradley. “It can totally flip the momentum of the game. Your team gets excited, you get excited, the crowd gets excited. It's just fun to do."

We hope you enjoyed meeting Trystan this evening. Each week throughout the school year KLEW Sports and P1FCU team up to highlight a deserving athlete in the area. If you have someone you’d like to nominate just go to click on sports and then prep athlete. Every Wednesday those athletes are showcased right here on KLEW-TV for their outstanding accomplishments.
