Nunez makes big impact for Lewiston in first year at safety.

LEWISTON, ID - It's been a season of many firsts for the Lewiston Bengals.

It's the first year for head coach Shawn Nilsson and it's also the first year playing safety for junior Andres Nunez.

"I've played (football) for nine years now and it just really means a lot to Me." said Nunez.

It's pretty evident anytime Andres Nunez takes the field just how much football means to him. It doesn't matter if it's playing wide receiver on offense or safety on defense, Andres just wants to help his team win.

In his first year at playing the safety position he has had interceptions in almost every game. Some of which he says were luck, but mostly skill.

"Some of them have been kind of lucky," said Nunez. "But it's just reading the quarterback and seeing where he is going to throw."

Andres said he has things at both positions he wants to improve on during his time with Lewiston. He also said the Bengals have put together some pretty high goals to achieve together as a team.

"Win state," said Nunez. "Beat every team, be as best as we can be, strive for perfection."

Having played for nine-years, Andres has experience many highlights already. And with his senior season yet to come, there is sure to be many more. However, Andres said this year brings one of his favorite so far.

"My biggest highlight personally would probably be my defensive year this year." said Nunez.
