P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week: Lindsey Kwate
TROY, ID —
We got another P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week.
This one coming from the White Pine Division-1 volleyball champs, the Troy Trojans.
This athlete has emerged as the leader for her team, and she still far away from graduation.
On this championship team, one player stands-out.
Sophomore Lindsey Kwate plays outside hitter for the Troy Trojans.
Despite being an underclassman, she has no problem leading.
"It wasn't really a big transition.” Kwate said. “We're so close and like I feel comfortable with everyone single one on this team."
Kwate has been around Troy volleyball since she was in the second grade.
And one milestone she witnessed drives her motivation.
“I watched the 2014 team win the state championship, and I just, wanted it my whole life," she said.
As a freshman, she was on the team that won the 2016 state title.
And she admits she's getting greedy about those championships.
"I'm a very competitive person and I always have been. And so, my motto has been 'respect all but fear none,'" she said.
Interesting note about Kwate, she skipped a grade when she was younger.
So, she's only 14 years-old.
But that still doesn't stop from wanting more.
"I just wanted to keep that legacy going,” Kwate said.
For the Troy volleyball, it seems like age is just a number.
Off the court, Kwate says she's an open book.
And in the classroom, she has about 3.7 grade point average.
We hope you enjoyed this week's P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week.
