P1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week: Matt Wolf
COLTON, WA —
Colton senior Matt Wolf has been play basketball since he was in the second grade.
"I like the constant motion of it. It's always going. There's no breaks really, except for timeouts,” Wolf said.
Coming into his last year of hoops for the Wildcats, this season is a little different.
"It's kind of crazy. I've always been able to say that, 'Oh I got next year to get better" and this is probably going to be my last year,” Wolf said. “So, it's really surreal that it's come down to this."
Wolf is the only senior on the team, but he’s up for the challenge.
"I got to step up. I know I don't need to put it all on my shoulders,” Wolf said. “We got some great upperclassmen. They're all going to step up and be leaders too.”
Something he’s learned from the class of 2017.
"I've just been watching them my whole life,” Wolf said. “They've been leaders our whole life. And learn tactics from them. They were great leaders."
Leading this team isn’t new for guard.
"I've done it before. My eighth-grade year and junior high it's the same team basically,” Wolf said. “But this is the last time I'll be able to lead them, it's a little bit different but I'll be able to do it one more time. It's fun. I like playing with these guys a whole bunch. All of them too. It's not just a couple players. I like them on and off the court."
Off the court, he enjoys playing the video game NBA 2K18.
“I’d have to say, probably the Thunder this year.”
After high school, Wolf says he wants to be a pilot, something he says runs in the family.
