"I like being able to know that it's just me verses another kid and if I win I know that I am better than him," said Freeman.
Freeman took seventh place in the State Wrestling Tournament in the 120 pound weight division, a match win that didn't come easy as he was trailing 5 to 1 in the last round.
"I ended up starting on top and I turned him over and I got three points and it was 5 to 4 and 30 seconds left and I had to turn him over again," said Freeman.
Freeman was the only wrestler to make it to state this year and contributes his success to hard work and dedication.
"Throughout the summer I go to about four to five camps," said Freeman.
In his spare time he continues to live and breathe the physical sport of wrestling.
"I went up to the middle school yesterday and I'll be going up there to help them prepare for their Bi-State Championship," said Freeman.
He also works on other forms of wrestling.
"I'll be doing freestyle and grecco," said Freeman.
That hard work in the off season continues to pay off making Zach Freeman this week's P#1FCU Prep Athlete of the Week.
