Former New England Patriot's football player charged with murder

LEWISTON, ID - A prominent professional football player could be facing multiple years in prison for murder.

Police have charged former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez with murder and weapons counts in connection with the slaying of a semi-pro football player whose body was found in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandez's home.

A judge ordered Hernandez held without bail pending further proceedings. Authorities said Odin Lloyd was shot multiple times in the back and chest, adding that Hernandez was upset with Lloyd after the two had a dispute at a nightclub a few days before. Hernandez was cut from the Patriots less than two hours after his arrest.
