Academic All-Star Travis Cowdrey found a passion for leadership through FBLA

KLEW cares about you, that’s why every week during the school year we feature a local student who is excelling in and out of the classroom.

This week our “Academic All-Star” comes to us from Asotin High School.

Travis Cowdrey is a senior at Asotin High and he loves to be involved.

"I've been a part of NHS for the past three years, and I've also been involved with FBLA,” said Travis.

He found a passion for leadership through becoming the Vice-President of Future Business Leaders of America.

The best part of being in a leadership role is getting to help other people, and helping them see what it's all about and hopefully get involved like I did,” said Travis.

Travis says this is one step toward pursuing his future career.

"Since I'm looking into going into the business field FBLA was perfect for me,” said Travis.

He decided to attend Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona this fall.

"The main thing that stood out to me was their business program, they have one of the top sports management programs in the nation,” said Travis.

And his love for sports is clear... he plays varsity baseball.

"It's just awesome to be able to get out on the field and play with those guys,” said Travis. “It doesn't even feel like there's any pressure because you're just playing with your friends."

Congratulations Travis, you’re this week’s “Academic All-Star.”
