Shantel Larson is pursuing a career as a music teacher in elementary school

KLEW News cares about you, that’s why every week we feature a local student who is excelling in and out of the classroom.

KLEW News Reporter Shannon Moudy has our “Academic All-Star.”

This classroom at Lewiston High School is filled with beautiful voices, one of which belongs to Shantel Larson.

“Music is my passion,” said Larson.

She’s also passionate about her grades.

“All A’s and B’s…I’ve never gotten a C before,” said Larson.

This Bengal has big dreams; she recently changed her career path from medicine….

"For my senior project I got to be in a classroom with a bunch of kids and I got to teach them some ASL,” said Larson. “Hi, it's nice to meet you."

And someday may use those ASL skills when she’s teaching her own class.

"The dream job is elementary music teacher,” said Larson.

Shantel will be staying close to home when she goes on to college, where she’ll major in education with minors in music and psychology.

"After graduation I'm going to spend my summer packing up and going to U of I next fall,” said Larson.
