KLEW cares about you, that’s why every week we feature a high school senior who shines in and out of the classroom.

This week’s CCI Speer “Academic All-Star” is Colfax senior Ryley Griffiths.

Colfax High School senior Ryley Griffiths is just a Seattle city boy turned Colfax country who is running through high school for the cross country and track and field team.

"3.1 miles and in track I’ve done the 800, the four-by-one, the four-by-four, 100-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the 200-meter dash and this year I’m really concentrating on the 800-meter dash,” Griffiths said.

Last year he made an appearance at the Track and Field State Championships.

"Last year I got two minutes flat at the end of the season and was ranked second in state except at state in the preliminaries I kind of got choked out and there were five guys ahead of me in lane, couldn't really pass them so this year I'm trying to get first in state,” he explained.

Ryley has taken on a leadership role becoming the captain of both teams while also working on his family’s farm which has given him a new dream to run after.

"I'm probably going to go to either WSU or U of I,” said Griffiths.

His heart is with the cows for an agricultural degree but he also has a head for business.

Congratulations Ryley, you’re this week’s CCI Speer Academic All-Star!
