Brush fire threatens house near Coca-Cola plant in north Lewiston

A brush fire broke out Thursday evening in north Lewiston near the Coca-Cola plant, threatening a home.

Crews were dispatched to a brush fire at around 6:00p.m. in the 400 block of 28th Street, North. The fire ignited in a patch of bushes just feet from a home. With the structure threatened, Lewiston Fire called for automatic aid, bring in Clarkston Fire to help control the scene.

Lewiston Fire Dept., Battalion Chief Eric Kelly said, "It spotted across the road here so having the other units, we were able to get a quick knock down on that. As well as the employees form Coca-Cola across the street here, they maintained their perimeter line here, they were out with fire extinguishers."

There were several people in the home at the time of the fire. No one was injured, and the home was saved.

Fire investigators determined that the cause was spontaneous combustion of a potted plant.
