LEWISTON, ID —
New information about the pursuit out of Grangeville which ended near Lapwai.
The suspect, Samuel Flores, is being held at the Nez Perce County Jail following his arrest on September 11th. Idaho State Police arrested Flores after chasing him for an hour.
Grangeville police say the 32-year-old fled after a woman reported he tried to sexually assault her in the parking lot of Grangeville’s Syringa Thrift Store. The pursuit ran from Idaho County, through Lewis County, and into Nez Perce County.
The case has been forwarded to Idaho County Deputy Prosecutor Adam Green, who had no word on whether additional charges could be filed.
KLEW News viewer Daniel Mendenhall captured the scene on his cellphone as Flores was arrested Tuesday afternoon around 4:00.
Flores finally came to a stop at mile-marker 297 near Lapwai, after police laid down spike strips three different times during the 86-mile pursuit. Flores refused to get out of the car, so police had to break the windows to gain entry.
Neither Flores nor any officers were hurt.
