Cold weather on Palouse made commute easier for drivers

MOSCOW, ID - With Monday's highs in the low twenties, the snow on the roads stayed frozen, which made it easier to plow and gave drivers better traction.

Moscow's Maintenance Manager Tyler Palmer said that road conditions will likely worsen as the weather warms up later in the week.

"A lot of times during the day, it'll thaw and so we'll get some wet spots and it'll freeze real quickly again," said Palmer. "And so that's when it'll get slippery, and we have to really try and stay on top of it at that point."

The snowy weather caused three non-injury accidents in Moscow, one of which is still under investigation. The Latah County Sheriffs Office reported three slide offs and one accident on Highway 8 east of Moscow, and the Washington State Patrol reported one slide off in Whitman County north of Colfax.
