Colfax traffic stop leads to multiple prostitution arrests
COLFAX, WA- Authorities have made multiple prostitution related arrests in Colfax over the weekend.
It started when Colfax Police made a traffic stop. They found out a 19 year old female passenger was advertising prostitution services online.
She told police she was working as a prostitute.
Trevor Yocum, 46, was arrested after admitting to promoting prostitution. He was booked into the Whitman County Jail on a $10,000 bond for second degree promoting prostitution, and driving with a suspended license.
"Rarely do we see someone who's just in the prostitution business where they're just selling sex. Often times with that we find out that there's drug addiction, narcotics transactions, stolen property, human trafficking, and all those other things that go with it," says Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers.
Yocum's arrest lead sheriff's deputies to investigate more prostitution services advertised online.
A deputy set up a fake date with an alleged prostitute out of the LC Valley.
Melissa Gunsch, 36, drove to Colfax Sunday night after agreeing to a price in exchange for sex.
The deputy met Gunsch and arrested for for prostitution.
