Double Homicide Suspect Back in Nez Perce County


A suspect in a double homicidee is back in Nez Perce County after nearly two months of fighting extradition.

Richard Carlin was transferred from Umatilla County, Oregon back to Idaho on Wednesday, after refusing to waive extradition since his arrest November 21st.

The 73-year-old arrived at the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center on Wednesday afternoon.

Prosecutor Justin Coleman says Carlin waived his right to extradition at a hearing on Monday. Carlin is facing two counts of 1st degree murder in the deaths of his ex-wife Raetta and daughter Michelle Carlin, as well as an attempted murder charge.

Police were called to the Circle Drive Mobile Home Park early in the morning of November 21st; they say Carlin fled after the murders and drove all the way to Oregon before he was arrested outside a truck stop in Stanfield.

Carlin's case was unsealed early Thursday morning. He's scheduled for a preliminary conference with Judge Michelle Evans on January 22nd.
