LAPWAI, ID -- New information about the pursuit on Highway-95 that happened Tuesday night and ended in Lapwai.
KLEW News viewer Daniel Mendenhall caught the dramatic video as it unfolded near mile marker 297. Police surrounded the silver sedan, with their guns drawn.
Around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, a woman in Grangeville reported a sexual assault in the Syringa Thrift Store parking lot.
Grangeville PD arrived within minutes. That’s when police say 32-year-old Samuel Flores of Wenatchee, Washington fled the scene heading north bound on I-95.
Police put out spike strips three different times before the hour-long pursuit came to a close near Webb Road in Nez Perce County.
"The Sherriff's Department from Idaho County, they used their push bumper to make sure he wouldn't get away, they pushed into him,” said ISP Trooper Braeden Hammon. “He resisted to get out of the vehicle he didn’t respond to our commands. So, to initiate him getting out of the vehicle we took appropriate measures to get him out the car."
No one was hurt in this pursuit.
The Idaho State Police, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Nez Perce Sheriff’s Office, and Nez Perce Tribal Police assisted.
Flores was arrested on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer by the Idaho State Police.
