Flu Season Outlook
LEWISTON, ID —
We've officially entered fall and another, lessenjoyable, season.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, flu season officially started September 1st.
While officials with Idaho Public Health say we can't predict how bad it will be this year, the southern hemisphere experienced a more severe flu season than usual.
Nurse Mike Larson says they recommend everyone six months and older get a flu vaccine, adding, "We never know when it's going to hit so the best advice is get it as soon as it's available. You need to be vaccinated for at least 12 weeks before you develop full immunity, so you really want to get that just as soon as it's possibly available."
Idaho Public Health doesn't have flu shots right now, but you can get them at most local pharmacies or by checking with your doctor.
