LEWISTON, ID -- Lewiston’s newest police chief is now official.
Budd Hurd was sworn in as Police Chief at Monday’s Lewiston City Council meeting.
Hurd has been the acting chief since early 2018 when Chris Ankeny resigned.
Hurd was selected as chief a month ago, and Monday’s official swearing in included a pinning ceremony done by Hurd’s wife, Lori, and a standing ovation for the new chief.
“You know, I’ve had a fabulous career and this is going to be a great way to top it off,” Hurd said. “I want to let everybody know that I’m here to serve the men and the women that wear the blue and obviously the citizens of Lewiston. I appreciate this opportunity.”
City Manager Alan Nygaard told the crowd he has received a lot of positive responses to the hiring of Chief Hurd.
