Nampa man hits patrol car sending Colfax Police on high speed chase

Brian Wignall of Nampa had a felony warrant.

A man from southern Idaho allegedly led a Colfax police officer on a high-speed car chase after hitting his patrol car.

Sunday night around 6:30, Colfax police made a traffic stop on Main Street, but determined the driver 29-year-old Brian Wignall of Nampa had a felony warrant.

Police said Wignall backed into the patrol car causing minor damage. Wignall then sped off north on US Highway-195 at speeds of up to 90 miles-per-hour.

The chase ended 15 miles later when Whitman County Sheriff’s deputies used spike strips to puncture Wignall’s Tires.

Wignall surrendered to authorities without incident. He was arrested for felony attempted eluding, misdemeanor hit and run, and felony drug possession. Heroin and methamphetamine were found inside the car.
