NWCH hopes to make the holidays brighter for children recovering from abuse

Northwest Children’s Home is asking the community to help them in their efforts to make this holiday season just a little brighter for those in need.

During this season of giving, NWCH holds their Red Stocking Campaign, where they get presents, put up decorations and do special events to help children separated from family during the holiday season because of abuse and neglect.

“Sometimes Christmas is not a good time for kids that have especially been traumatized due to abuse," Hy’D Andrews, NWCH Director of Development says. "So we make sure that this is a Christmas that they can get their mind off whatever has happened to them and they can just be kids. So we have activities, we’re doing a big Christmas tree lighting, tomorrow we’re decorating a tree, we’re having a Christmas party.”

With their case manager’s approval, NWCH even takes the kids to visit their family, though for them, going home for the holidays is very different experience than for most.

Those who want to donate to the Red Stocking Campaign can do so on NWCH's website or Facebook page.
