Police seek help locating suspect using counterfeit bills at Stinker Station
LEWISTON, ID —
Lewiston Police are looking for a person who tried using fake money at a local business.
Lewiston Police Detective Brian Birdsell released this image from the security camera footage at the Stinker Station in North Lewiston. He said on Friday this man tried to pass three phony five-dollar bills, but he wasn’t fooling anyone.
“They were horrible counterfeits, they were immediately recognized by the clerk and then he confronted the individual and the individual left,” Birdsell said, “We usually see counterfeit bills in the higher denomination 20's, 50's, 100's but to see five-dollar bills is pretty unusual.”
The security camera captured this image of the suspect’s car driving away.
