COLFAX, WA — No one was injured when a runaway semi-truck crashed in downtown Colfax early Monday morning.
The crash happened around 5:30a.m. at the bottom of the State Route 272 grade.
The big rig hauling hay lost its brakes while the driver was heading west into town.
The truck blew through the stoplight at Main Street. The truck was heading for the south fork of the Palouse River, but the driver avoided going into the water by tipping the semi into an alley.
Nobody was injured.
Colfax Police are reminding truck drivers and shipping companies to make sure their vehicles are properly maintained.
