There is still time to join Hells Canyon Boat Club parade

It is that time of year again when the Hells Canyon Boat Club takes to the Snake River to kick off the holiday season. This Saturday is their annual lighted boat parade. The idea behind it is to decorate your boat with lights to help bring the holiday spirit to the valley.

Organizers of the event decided to move the date up this year to help boost community participation. This Saturday is also Veteran's Day, so some participants are using it as an opportunity to honor veterans as well.

"It is on Veteran's Day and we need to acknowledge our veterans, so my boat which I’m decorating, has the patriotic theme, with a little bit of Christmas thrown in there to kind of cover both bases," said Bob Miller who chose to decorate his boat, with red, white and blue lights and an American flag.

He said they are still looking for people who want to join the lighted boat parade, and it doesn't matter how much or little you put into decorating your boat.

The parade begins around 4:30 p.m.

If you want to watch you can line up anywhere from Swallows Nest, down river.
